Day 412 | Rocky Creek: off on another side track, way off

75 km | zzOz total: 11,960 km

I stopped at Moreton Telegraph Station for a pie for morning tea but basically a day of plugging away on the Peninsular Development Road. The terrain was undulating with a few kilometres between the crests and the surface reasonable enough to crank up the pace on the downhill portions.

Most thoughts were on whether to take a diversion with the options being: retracing the Frenchmans Track but after my efforts on the Tele I’m thinking I’ve had enough walking for a while; the turnoff to Weipa was next, I hadn’t seriously considered that but the thought of spending more time with the Grey Nomads in a mining based town didn’t inspire; so instead I’ve taken a little used track that is a shorter version of Frenchmans but requires another two crossings of each of the Pascoe and Wenlock Rivers.

So I’m camped by myself, might as well, considering I might be seen to be turning into a cranky old curmudgeon.
