Day 221 | where’s Mt Barnett Gorge’s gorgeous gorge: looks more like a creekbed

70 km | Heading west total: 9,924 km

For the first time since 1st June (as I was leaving Alice) rain has fallen.

Rain?

It’s supposed to be the Dry Season.

Because of the evening heat and humidity I’ve been sleeping with just the mosquito net up for most of the time since Halls Creek. It’s 30°C at midnight dropping to 22°, maybe, by 6am.

I was so surprised by the night time punctuation that I just lay in my cocoon for a while letting the warm drops come through the mesh. With its persistence I ended up getting up and throwing the fly over the tent.

The electronic gear and sleeping bag are a bit more sensitive to precipitation than this hardy Kiwi.
