Day 42 | Lake Koorkoordine: actually not so far from Southern Cross

10 km | zzOz total: 1,937 km

Having to emerge in the morning after less than 5 hours sleep, far too much to discuss, see I am the chatty type in good company, it was clear I wasn’t going to make much progress, bikewise, after my 404 km train trip back to Southern Cross.

Humm, all I have to do tomorrow is head back 80 km and I’ll be back where I was exactly a week ago.

Except, now there’s no stopping me.

The bearings slotted straight in, yes, I could probably have picked them up even in this small town, if I’d known what to look for, I’m all fooded up and raring to go.

The excursion to Southern X and hence to Perth worked out precisely as planned. Everything, except for the fine, crossed off the To Do List, the batteries charged up and it’s time to strike out for northern climes.

Some things went well, if taking longer than anticipated, particularly the bearing situation. In the end that was easy thanks to Destry’s advice.

A replacement sleeping sheet was located and an anonymous benefactor stepped forward to lay down the plastic, “One of us has a job.” Wow. 500 odd nights seems a fair life for that lightweight cocoon.

Issue 3, I’d been having issues trying to charge up my laptop, even with a 240V mainline, so I thought a trip to the Apple Store was in order. After 500 recharges in the last 3 years the battery was about to die, apparently. A new one is $149, I had the cash out, but no, despite being 2 years out of warrantee, you can have it for free.

Now that’s my kind of price. It seems like a brand new computer with a full 7 hour battery life.

Now my own battery is about to expire for today.
