Day 274 | 10km past Killara Station turnoff: meeting the local insects

60 km | Heading west total: 12,826 km

The flies are fierce around here.

With no passing traffic on the deserted road I’ve taken to wearing my head net when setting up the camp. But at least the flies go home at sunset, well shortly after.

The ants didn’t follow that plan. They stayed around and really started massing. Small black ants that smell a bit aniseed when dispatched. I got invaded in a big way, an inch wide stream marched across the sand and many made it into the tent. Not much sleep with them crawling over me and occasionally giving me a nip.

That broken zip on the tent is a major issue here.
