Day 11 | Jarrahwood: been here so often, almost feels like going home

I’m not complaining, after all I chose this quirky itinerary, but I just had to do something about the current state of dampness. It’s been going on now for 6 days and since my entry into Collie the showers have been persistent. Wet in the mornings to cause a wet tent roll up, plus enough of a drop, often enough, each day to mean I’m travelling damp as well.

Last night I came up with the idea to head to the last of the Munda Biddi shelters, truly 3 star accommodation for the average long distance bike tourist, provided you appreciate the additional ventilation from having a three walled room as shelter.

The corrugated steel roofing and wall construction awards full acoustic awareness of the current state of precipitation: at the moment sounding as if waterfalls have taken up residence.

It is, in fact, OK to be out in the tent in this sort of weather, with the proviso that the tent goes up dry.

But to me a three star, if three sided, shelter is quite sufficient luxurious treat.
