Day 508 | Bundaleer Forest: are those lights just down there?

56 km | zzOz total: 16,483 km

Re-riding the Mawson Trail shows how much I’ve learned in the last three years.

The Trail was my first major experience of day on end dirt road riding, I’d done isolated hours, a day, in the rough stuff previously, the well groomed Barry Way from Buchan to Jindabyne, or that back road via the Rufus River, but not 900 km of almost entirely dusty track.

I’m remembering the Trail well and while it’s still as much of a rollercoaster in places I’m now completely unfazed by the climbs, it’s only a k, the steep bits are still steep, but my mind is adjusted to any grinding and it’s turned out the parts I’m enjoying the most were the ones where I’d previously had mild consternation.

It’s a terrific track, the perfect learner’s guide for the more challenging off-road experience.

Ain’t no big thing.
