Esperance Day 34

The winds are a permanent feature of Esperance.

No problem getting the washing dry in this town.

Being coastal the temperature is variable. The wind blows from the sea, mostly, and it’s usually less than 30°C. But blow from the north and with the wind straight off 3000 km of desert the heat cranks right up. It was still over 40°C at 7 pm last night.

I joined the locals down at the beach just 150 m from my tent and sat up to my neck in the cool water.

When in Rome . . .

Later I find out I’ve survived Esperance’s hottest day ever recorded.

That’s 116°F in the old language.
