The laws in Australia are consistent.
It’s a $50 minimum fine if caught. Unless your charm works.
So, at least wear it in the towns and cities. Set an example for the kiddies.
Police aren’t heavy-handed out there. They will generally ignore a bike tourer. Being without a helmet gives them an excuse. But you sense giving a ticket to a cyclist would be more of an embarrassment with their buddies.
Once out on the road, at least wear a hat. Australia’s been big on skin cancer awareness in recent years.
Some risks aren’t worth taking.
